Through a Different Lens: Stanley Kubrick Photographs
Design Team: Marissa Martonyi; Photographs courtesy Brad FarwellPress: “Located on the museum’s third floor, the exhibit is simple, effective, and direct. It’s an appropriate approach given that Kubrick’s photos are immediate, expressing drama and narrative as straightforwardly as possible.” Hyperallergic; Daily Beast
Through a Different Lens features more than 120 photographs by Kubrick from the LOOK Magazine archive, an unparalleled collection that includes 129 photography assignments and more than 12,000 negatives from his five years as a staff photographer. The show’s black, white, and red color scheme evokes the newspaper/magazine medium, while the exhibition is presented chronologically. Concise program notes provide necessary historical and biographical context for each set of photos displayed.
